Back-to-Back Champs: Snappers Reload for 2026 Title Defense
Preview:
The reigning champs return to defend their title this summer, after a smooth sail run to the championship with a 29-12 regular season record. The Snappers swept the Boca Beach Boys in two games to claim the crown — its second title in a row. For West Boca, its 2026 squad has a couple of returners, but is mostly constructed with new faces.
Key Returners:
A couple of members from West Boca’s championship team will return to the Sunshine State this summer. The group is headlined by two starters from the championship series — Shortstop Noah Jones (Georgia Southwestern) and Catcher Joshua Hungler (Barry University). The two fight to add another ring to their repertoire. For Jones, the Alabama native contributed three runs in the Snappers’ two-game finale. The shortstop slashed (.231/.293/.601) in his 2025 campaign. The right-handed batter isn’t the only key returner for WB. Catcher Joshua Hungler is back behind the dish for his second consecutive year with the Snappers. The Lake Worth native hit .276 last season, the 7th best mark for West Boca.
New Additions:
Even though the Snappers can hope for hefty contributions from some of its returners, much of the team's success may have to be attributed to its new players. West Boca adds not one, not two, not three, but twelve rising Freshman to its 2026 roster. Coincidentally enough, three of the twelve newcomers come from the NJCAA Region 8’s Chipola college. Outfielders Cade Wilkerson and Brett Hobbs, along with infielder Julio Franco, each are traveling 503 miles from Chipola college to Boca Raton to join WB this summer. West Boca will open its season against the Boca Raton Blazers at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 3. As defending champs, the Snappers will have a target on their backs this summer, but are prepared with returning and new talent.
